Anthony & Amy - Alternative Rock N Roll Halloween Elopement - Wedding Photography South Wales

South Wales alternative wedding photography

Wedding planning

Bloody hell. Where to start with this wonderful story. I guess we will start with the most important bit, these two lovely people. Anthony & Amy got in touch when planning their small wedding/elopement in Neath, and we chatted about what they had in mind. It was super lovely to hear that I caught their eye from making registry offices in my previous wedding photography look good (thanks guys haha!)

What really stood out to me when chatting through things, was the genuine reasons for wanting to plan the whole thing, and how they wanted to do things exactly as they wanted, without the extra fuss or traditions. Their day sounded like it would be a totally alternative, non-traditional wedding DREAM, and it was exactly that. This lovely couple wanted no pressure, no awkwardness and just a great day together. I’m sure Anthony won’t mind me sharing what he told me the day before the wedding - “nothing would make me happier than to make Amy my wife.” I’m not crying I promise.

Amy & Anthony were also super flexible and kind enough to plan their day for when I was available to join them! We settled on a Halloween wedding, and I’m so glad we did!

Small wedding ceremony Neath

Onto the day itself. In true Halloween style, the weather in South Wales was a bit rainy, but eerily calm. A bit of rain wasn’t going to stop this party! I joined Amy & Anthony with their three close guests for the wedding ceremony in Neath, which was super intimate and relaxed, just how I like it!

Afternoon tea wedding reception in an antique shop

From the ceremony, we headed to Tres Bien at The Vintage 7 Centre in Neath. What an absolute gem of a place, and perfectly reflected Anthony & Amy’s personalities! The most eclectically decorated and cozy antique shop, with such wonderful items for sale in such a cool space! We had an incredible afternoon tea, and even had a little explore for some relaxed and colourful alternative couple wedding photography.

Relaxed wedding photography at Usk Lighthouse

After afternoon tea, I joined Anthony & Amy as we traveled to West Usk Lighthouse. On the way there, the weather was still a bit misty and eerie, and the light was dimming, which again suited the Halloween vibe perfectly! We jumped right into it as soon as we got there, Anthony & Amy had stayed there before so gave me an awesome tour of the whole building and the grounds whilst we got some really lovely couple portrait photographs. Can I stop here to just say how bloody awesome these two looked!? I absolutely love the individual style they put on the day, which was matched by what they wore! Very much a rock n roll wedding with the converse, bridal leather jacket, re-worked wedding dress made from Amy’s school prom dress by her very talented mum, chunky boots, flower crown and bright hair!

A genuine connection

Not only did these lovelies look awesome, but the way they were together, and their pure reasoning for doing the day exactly as they wanted it was just so wonderful. What was also lovely was Amy & Anthony saying it felt like I was more like a friend on their wedding day, and I couldn’t agree more, I feel like I’ve known them for years and gained two great mates. I hope you enjoy some wedding photography highlights below from this awesome day! Congratulations and thank you again from the bottom of my heart Anthony & Amy!
