A beautifully happy day by the sea
Venue: www.oxwichbayhotel.co.uk
Although we didn't get the chance to meet up beforehand, hearing Gareth & Lowri's plans for their beautiful wedding over a few phone calls before I joined them as their Oxwich Bay Hotel Wedding Photographer, I knew immediately how lovely and relaxed the day would be.
I joined Lowri and her bridesmaids at her parents house on the morning of the wedding for bridal preparations, the house was really busy with activity but somehow still really chilled, which was just such a lovely environment to document, with plenty of natural funny moments.
I joined Gareth as guests were arriving at Bethesda Chapel in Ynysmeudwy, before everyone too their seats for Lowri and the girls to arrive!
I never know what I'll be faced with when photographing weddings in churches and chapels and the buildings tend to be older, and lighting is never always neutral. HOWEVER, what an absolute pleasure it was photographing this chapel wedding! It was a so light and airy, I had such a fantastic spot to catch tears, smiles and laughter throughout the whole ceremony. A particularly moving part was the surprise singing which had been arranged at the end of the ceremony which was so meaningful to Lowri & Gareth as you can see from the photographs.
Following a huge shower of confetti outside the chapel, everyone headed down to Oxwich Bay Hotel for the wedding reception. Before joining guests at Oxwich's marquee, Gareth Lowri & I took a walk onto Oxwich beach for some couple portraits. The whole session was extremely relaxed, and despite the couple telling me they had no experience in front of the camera, I think everyone agrees they absolutely NAILED it, focusing totally on one another rather than me, it was a pleasure to join them away from the excitement of the guests for some quiet moments together.
The rest of the reception was nothing but fun and laughter, with one of the most colourful dancefloors I have photographed at Oxwich Bay Hotel. I LOVED the wedding dancefloor fairylights on the roof of the marquee which lit up the first dance and the full dancefloor that followed beautifully. The band at Oxwich made the atmosphere awesome, and even prompted some air guitar on the floor from Lowri!
The whole day was just simply wonderful, and was such a friendly, warm, welcoming atmosphere I was honoured to be able to document!
Thanks again Gareth & Lowri for letting me be your Oxwich Bay Swansea wedding photographer!
Llongyfarchiadau!
