Overseas photographer highlights from the most picturesque intimate Sorrento destination wedding on the Amalfi Coast

This beautiful wedding is a story of one of the most determined couples I have ever had the pleasure of photographing! Originally planned for 2019, and after countless pandemic related date changes, Caitlin & James persevered and FINALLY had their dream Sorrento destination wedding four years later, and it was absolutely worth the wait!
Scaling things back and switching up plans for a more intimate day with around 12 guests, I was absolutely delighted to still be able to fly out to Italy from the UK to document this wonderful wedding day.
The overseas wedding was held at the gorgeous Villa Silvana in Sorrento, which as you can see below, overlooks the most incredible view of the Amalfi Coast with views of Mount Vesuvius (and apparently Robbie Williams’ yacht)
The weather was a scorcher with on and off thunderstorms, that proper lovely Italian heat I’ve come to love. The Villa itself was just breathtaking, the lightest and airiest spaces surrounded by lemon trees, palms and very authentic green spaces, the ideal backdrop.
The day was expertly coordinated and run like clockwork by Cheryl & the team at Bella Sposa which was just a pleasure, having a good planner who’ on the ball takes all the uncertainty out of things and makes the day much more relaxing!
After a brief bit of bridal and groom prep, Caitlin & James along with their guests assembled on the rooftop terrace for the ceremony, looking out over the coast. The rest of the day was just super chilled and welcoming, and I was treated just like another guest which I’m always so so grateful for. We took some relaxed couple photographs around the grounds of Villa Silvana, and had a beautiful evening of incredible Italian food, live music and lots of good laughs!
I love love love being a fly on the wall and being a documentary photographer for smaller destination weddings like these, it’s always a lovely opportunity to chat with people and really immerse yourself when there are smaller numbers of guests. This one was such a pleasure and it was an absolute credit to Caitlin & James being so determined to push through so many unforeseen changes to plans, it was absolutely worth the wait!
